ARTISTRY OF ADAM ROTE NOW AT WYLAND GALLERIES; KEY WEST SHOW SET FOR MARCH 26-28
"Cathode Days," featuring an example of Rote's uniques, is created in a film noir style with an intense contrast between areas of light and dark.
Wyland Galleries announces the addition of modern romanticist Adam Rote to its coterie of featured fine artists. Rote’s images are available to collectors at Key West’s 623 Duval Street location and in Sarasota at 314 John Ringling Boulevard on St. Armands Circle.
A show to introduce Rote and his charismatic images is set for Friday through Sunday, March 26-28, at the 623 Duval gallery. Rote will be on hand daily and by appointment to meet art lovers and discuss the inspiration behind his compelling canvases.
Influenced by fashion and classic cinema as well as architecture, Rote uses acrylics, watercolor pencils, gouache paint, and airbrush to create his unusual pieces. His incorporation of grand architecture in a state of decay is reminiscent of the techniques of the 15th- and 16th-century masters.
As well as a brilliant use of high-contrast lights and darks, Rote’s images often include transparent and not fully realized depictions of the human form.
”My figures are not ghosts,” the artist says. “They are transparent rather than opaque.” This, he explains, gives the whole painting equal focus.
Many of Rote’s pieces contain smaller insets that can be individualized to create what he calls “uniques.” He plans for several of these to be exclusive to Wyland Galleries.
Given their dramatic nature, it’s no surprise that the canvases of the largely self-taught Rote are widely collected by stage, screen and recording celebrities.
To view Rote’s distinctive and fascinating paintings, visit Wyland’s 623 Duval Street gallery in Key West or the St. Armands Circle gallery in Sarasota. For more information about Adam Rote and his work, call your favorite art consultant at (305) 292-4998 in Key West or (941) 388-5331 in Sarasota.
