WYLAND’S NEW MEDIUM EXPRESSES HIS ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT
Some of Wyland's favorite undersea mammals are shown here done in Chinese brush strokes on renewable bamboo.
Wyland’s lifelong dedication to conserving the earth’s oceans and marine life is well known throughout the world. His 100 “Whaling Walls” have inspired millions, and his efforts in encouraging the “green” life have achieved notable success. He himself has been “green” for 30 years.
Embarking on a new concept of environmental art, Wyland has begun a series of Chinese brush stroke paintings on bamboo. Using environmentally “green” inks, he has chosen threatened species of bird, animal, and marine life and created intriguing images on 100 percent rapidly renewable bamboo. The bamboo has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
